Budgets and dates

Give each occasion its own budget and date; each one has its own wishlist and countdown. The “Total budget” your child sees is Birthday + Christmas + any other budget you add + the game money they have unlocked so far (only what’s really been earned, never the yearly maximum). Game money waits in the total until it’s shared into an occasion. Each January it starts again and whatever was left carries over. Unused money in any budget can go back to the total, or be kept for good in lifetime savings, with “Move money”.

The game budget starts at $0 until you set it. Game money joins the total budget only as it’s unlocked: $1 a day for a year is up to $365, but the total grows by each day’s money when the questions are answered, not up front.

The daily budget is split evenly between the games that are on (a game with a bigger share takes more). To collect the whole day’s money a child has to finish every game’s questions (10 math, 10 spelling and 10 geography to start with); playing on after that still earns trophies and rank.

Each math level is one school year (US grade, England year and Ontario grade are shown). Changing the age picks the level most children that age do at school; pick a higher level any time to stretch them.

Give a subject extra

Want them well rounded, or to push a subject they are behind in? Two ways, per subject: a bigger share of the daily game budget (×1.5 pays 1.5 times what the others do per question) and dedicated money on top: an extra amount a day only that subject can unlock (50¢ a day is up to $182 a year).

Move up a level by itself after a run of right answers (math and spelling 50 in a row, geography 30, secret word 25, sudoku 8) or a total at that level (200 math, spelling or geography; 150 secret words; 20 sudoku). A level earned is kept; if progress stalls, you can pick a lower level above (no ceiling: math runs all the way to Grade 12) Email me a progress report when my child moves up a level

Surprise bonuses Add a surprise to the budget when my child levels up or wins a trophy. They find out the amount when it happens.

Wantasaur shares the daily budget across the day's questions and works out what each one is worth. Change any setting and everything already earned is worked out again at the new rates. Kids can keep playing after the daily questions or the total are used up; those rounds are practice and don't add money.

Kids

Every child gets their own wishlists, budgets, games and trophies. Kids pick who's playing at the top of the kid view; the grown-up area shows one child at a time. Use nicknames or first names only — never a full name, because names appear on lists you share.

Country sets the currency and which shops “Find any gift” searches. The town is only used to search for shops near you.

Off until you turn it on. When it's on, the words your child types in the gift search are sent to our server to find products, and may be passed to a shopping-search service (SerpApi). We pass on only the search words and country, never who typed them. Searches that look like they hold an address, phone number, email or phrases like "my name is" are blocked, and we don't keep search histories. Please remind your child not to type real names. When it's off, your child sees gift ideas and your family picks only.

Search Amazon and the other big kids' shops in one go. Each button opens that store's results. The toy shop in the app shows only gifts from stores we have checked.

Privacy and your data

No ads, no tracking. Wantasaur has no advertising and no analytics tools, and we never sell data.
Kids don't have accounts. Only a parent signs in. Use a nickname for your child.
Private to your family. Your list syncs only between the grown-ups you invite. Each family can only reach its own data.
Pretend money. The budget, earnings and bonuses are numbers for planning wishes. No real money moves to or from your child.
Store links. Shops we link to have their own prices, terms and privacy policies. Some links may earn us a commission.
Store search is your choice. It's off until you turn it on in Settings. Searches that look like addresses, phone numbers or emails are blocked.
